allotment WAITING LIST at Highgate Allotments IS NOW CLOSED
Updated June 2024
The Waiting List was closed in 2021 with over 250 people listed, as there was evidently a very long wait for anyone to get to the top of the list - probably at least 7 years. Currently (June 2024) we are down to about 170 people waiting, so the queue is shifting, but we are unlikely to open the waiting list to new applicants until the list drops below 100. If you are very keen to get to grips with cultivation then do try other allotment sites in Haringey. The situation will be reviewed every few months so please keep checking the website if you are interested in going on the waiting list in the future.
Anyone who is already on the Waiting List will of course remain so, unless you contact us to ask to be removed. Existing Waiting List applicants may check where they are by clicking WAITING LIST. You should also be sure to update us with any contact changes so that we can get in touch when a plot does become available. Go here to get in contact: we may periodically contact people on the waiting list to check you are still interested, and if we don’t have up to date details for you we may have to remove you from the list. It is your responsibility to keep us up to date!
THE HIGHGATE ALLOTMENTS ASSOCIATION
All plot holders at the Highgate Allotments site are automatically members of the Highgate Allotments Association (HAA). The site is owned by Haringey Council, to which we pay our rents. There are over 170 allotment plots, varying in size between 3 and 10 poles (75 and 250 square metres), on renewable one year leases. Members elect a Committee annually to manage the site in co-operation with Haringey Council allotment officers. You can find more details of how the Association is constituted in our Terms of Reference. The Committee are all volunteer tenants who give up their time to ensure the waiting list, lettings and general maintenance of the site are run fairly and efficiently. They also organise running of our Shed Shop, site maintenance and occasional social events throughout the year. You can read the minutes of Committee meetings and past copies of the newsletter on the documents page of this site.
You can contact the Committee at highgateallotments@outlook.com.
We also have a Facebook group for tenants to join. Any prospective group member must provide their plot number to the group administrator.
